[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image shows some of the Lunar landscape during the First Quarter moon phase. I want to draw your attention however to the gash just left of center this is known as the Alpine Valley.

To give you some measure of scale this rift valley is 130km in length and 10km in width. The valley is filled with lava inside. The typical height of peaks around this range are 1.8 to 3.6 km.

The quality of this shot is not that great because its a capture from some years back with my 2mp camera, better quality will be obtained later this year with my DSLR on certain lunar features as well as the planets using eyepiece projection with the telescope.

Amazing shot Stephen, such detail in the picture. The light is excellent and the crop works very well. Good note too. Well done.

I agree with Julia on this. The photo shows very good contrasts and details and it's overall quality is well above amateur standards. Besides that, your framing makes it a very attractive image. Well done, Stephen!

Brilliant Stephen! Posts like this are most welcome. It is an area not often visited on TN. (I hardly ever visit the moon ;)
The quality is very good really, and your note is very interesting.
Thanks for posting this. Cheers, Steve.
(BTW ... I only use a 2mp camera, for all my macros, landscapes and everything. Its not too bad really)
