Hello Simmon. Very good picture of the Goose.
Great detail of the wings,he stands out well against the blue sky. well done.
Nick
You have really nailed it, Simon.
This is the best ever shot of a bird in flight I have ever seen with such clear sharp focus and perfect details on the wings.
I have read you note with intense interest; I use the same camera.
What do you mean by "third fastest focusing mode"? Which other did you find out and use here? And what is "single area point focus"?
What did you choose on AF-ON button?
Sorry for being a pest with my questions!
Ram
I's say you really nailed this one Simon. The sharpness is super and the view from above the bird showing the spread tail is really nice. Good natural color too. I'm confused about 3 focus speeds... Could you explain that a little?

Hi Simon
Anohter splendid photo from you, my friend!
This is truely a magnificent in-flight and the composition you managed to create here is outstanding!
Also by positioning it diagonally in the frame, you managed to create the impression of it being a lot bigger :)
The details and colors are again terrific and the lighting and exposure on the plumage (especially the feathers of the wings) are lovely.
Superb work!
Bravo and TFS

You nailed that one Simon, you seem to be enjoying your new lens! I like the "above it" point of view, the lighting is good on the feathers, colours are good. Well done.

Wow, that is a fantastic in-flight shot, Simon.
We have seen many Canada Goose, but never one in full flight like this.
The details are amazing. Light and exposure are perfect.
The blue sky makes a magnificent BG.

Hello Simon,
This is an excellent in-flight shot of a Canadian goose! It seems that not only is your lens very good but you also have already learned how to use it to get the best results! This shot is truly a winner! I wish I can take one like this myself!
Composition:
The diagonal composition is very efficient for this kind of shots as it suggests turning. The POV is also very good since most of the in-flight shots are taken from below. You were lucky to catch this guy close to the ground thus being able to show us the upper side of the wings. The plain, blue sky is the perfect background as it isolates your goose very well. I also noticed the correctly distributed empty space in front of the subject! Very good!
Colors:
Very good and natural looking colors! I thought these guys have orange feet and beak but it seems I was wrong. Perhaps that was a different species! The blue sky has the best color to compliment an in-flight shot of a bird!
Contrast:
Excellent contrast in the subject! Especially between black and white! Additionally, the lack of contrast in the background helps isolating the goose!
Exposure:
Just brilliant! Look at the white feathers in the tail and the black ones just above! You can identify each one of them! This has been achieved by a perfect control of the exposure! And when you think all this was done against a bright background! Congratulations! For the great catchlights in the eyes too!
Focus:
According to the sharp details, I can say that focus was achieved perfectly! I read your note and tried to find the equivalent of your focusing method in the Canon cameras but am still confuse. Whatever the focusing method, it really nailed it down as you said! The DOF was also well controlled to keep the whole goose in focus! No sharpness fall-off, even in the wing tips!
A great shot complimented by a great frame! Bravo! Thank you for sharing!
With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
