Tawny Owl, Strix aluco, taken today as part of a Liberty's Raptor And Reptile Centre Photo Day out in the New Forest.

We took her out into the Forest and sat her on this moss covered fallen tree, where she happily sat there in the sun watching the chaffinches and other birds. Eventually she relaxed so much she started to fall asleep.

Taken at 160th sec @ F8 to get a little DOF, but still blur out the background with the 100 - 400. RAW ISO 100 for max image quality.

Tawny owl has very dark iris, but on this picture you can clearly see the brownish colour, which simply means that exposure is just perfect!
