Another view of the Eagle Owl.
Bengal Eagle Owls are mostly nocturnal. They fly with slow, deliberate wingbeats, with long bouts of gliding.

Size: Length 50-56 cm (19.7-22")
Wing Length Male 364-390mm (14.3-15.4") Female 375-425mm (14.8-16.7")
Weight 1100g (38.8oz) (weight of one male specimen)

Voice: Male has a deep, resonant, double hoot bu-whooh, repeated at intervals of several seconds. The female's song is similar, with a slightly higher pitch. At the nest both sexes with may make a clucking noise, or a series of huwoo-huwoo sounds - again, the female is slightly higher in pitch.
Taken last Sunday at a falconry display.

Nice detailed image, I like the diagonal slant to it...that is one fierce looking bird.

Great capture of this bird, very sharp and clean and with good DOF. Good details on the feathers and good light. Pity the perch looks so man-made, but nothing much to do about that ;-)

vey nice one michael,
good capture composition, good colours and light, very good note, also good job you did here.

Very nice capture of a beautiful bird Michael. Very sharp and lots of details in the plumage. The colours look great and the well blurred background sets the owl off really good. Only nit - I would prefer a little more space above the owl but that is a personal matter of course.

I've always been fascinated with owl's beautiful details in the feathers and colors in the eyes.
