[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Well after days of rain or simply being so overcast it might as well have been, the sun came out and so did I with camera, long lens and hiking boots.
I came across this rather splendid chap, somewhat smugly hovering around his hinds.
I didn't think he'd seen me, but his sense of smell soon caught me out and he was eyeing me up as competition.
Is he wild, he was furious!!
This shot was taken using the long end of my Nikkor 80-400mm lens at f11 with the shuuter clicking in at 1/1250. Yes the weather really was that good.
Taken in raw and converted to j.peg. Sorted colouring, and that's about it.

Thanks for looking.

Hello Gary,
Fine capture of a Red Deer in summer. This does not have the autumnal splendour of a Landseer painting, but it has the warmth and tranquility of early summer.
Technically this is sharp and well presented, but most of all this shot radiates calmness. So 'Laird' instead of 'monarch' is a good choice.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Gary,
A proud animal.
Wonderful vista as well...

Hello Gary,
what a wonderdful champion! Well focused and with the right depth (your note is really useful), you give him a three-dimensional effect. Maybe he was angry, but you were clever.

Hi Gary, wonderful composure and framing. Can't believe he let you so close.
Great capture.

It must be deer season. Many of my readers have been sending me pics of bucks and doe as well as fawn all week. Of course up here we do not have this variety.

An image like one I have never seen. Very nicely captured my friend Gary....You work for your pixs I see...that's the good old fashioned way..Worth the effort.

Hi dear Gary ,
nice image with greatcomposition.
sharpness and colours is excellent.

Hello Gary! My goodness, but isn't he letting you know he's not best pleased! Very appropriate title, gorgeous composition with good detail! Am somewhat surprised at how large his ears are, rather the size of the mule deer found in the American west. Marvellous capture, lucky you to have been there! Thank you, Linda

the shot kind of like reminds of the painting my grandmother used to have on her wall, when it was popular.

Great note: Thankfully being female they don't seem to bother with me and will happily ignore me

I like this shot; the setting is perfect. Somehow there is a 3D quality to your picture. The deer seems to stand out. Nice shot Gary.
