Some species notes:

European/world range...

The race britannicus occurs only in Britain. The continental race gorganus is widespread in Europe, and across Asia to Japan as well as in North America. It has declined recently in some European countries.

The native British race feeds solely on Milk-parsley (Peucedanum palustre). Occasional migrants of the continental race gorganus use a variety of umbellifers such as Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) and Wild Angelica (Angelica sylvestris).

The British race britannicus breeds only in open fens and marshes that support vigorous growths of Milk-parsley. The butterfly prefers areas of mixed fen usually dominated by sedge, or sometimes reed, which are cut periodically and contain tall, prominent foodplants. The occasional migrants of gorganus can be found in almost any habitat but are most frequently seen on grassland near the south coast of England.

Hello Matt,
Very beautiful shot of this Swallowtail.
Great composition and viewing angle.
Looks like the butterfly is floating together with the flower it's on.
Perfect sharpness, lighting and DOF and the details, soft color tones in the BG and color contrast are wonderful.
Perfect work.
Thanks for sharing.
Best regards and have a nice evening.

Hi matt,
superbe image, le pov en plongée donne un effet plat extra. La netteté est parfaitement maîtrisée, les couleurs saturées et naturelles

Hi Matt, Wonderful pic this.Great BG, true colours, good composition, Perfect POV and sharp details.

What more could one ask for?

Good work, keep going!

Warm regards, Kiran

Hello Matt!
Even if this species is rather often presented on TN, it is still nice to watch it especially if the photo (like this one) is so good. Very good DOF and POV together with excellent sharpness and warm coloured BG makes this picture very atractive :)
TFS and best greetings from Lodz,

Hallo Matt,

This is a very beautiful picture of one of my favorite butterflies. I have a similar picture here. I don't have a macro lens so that I shoot butterflies with the telephoto lens.
Your picture is well exposed and focused and shows excellent details in the butterfly's wings. The colors are natural and well saturated and the perfect background makes the insect stand out from the surroundings. Very well done! TFS!

With Friendly Regards,
