Taken with a Canon 20D with Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L attached and tripod mounted. Camera settings - AV set at f/10 iso 400.

Erithacus rubecula - AKA: European robin
The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

Likes woodlands, parks and gardens with plenty of undergrowth.

What does it eat? Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.

What does it sound like? The song is a sweet, high warbling; alarm call is a loud 'tic',

Beautiful robin. The sharpness is perfect. Really like the details of the grains at his feet and the colours of his breast.
Toni

Wonderful details of this Robin. A superb capture, really sharp. Great background.
Well done

I find your robins much prettier than ours, or perhaps it is because I am so used to them. Great capture, detail and colors. Thank you.
You use the same enticement as I do for these, guys I see.

To me, this is your best robin, Gary. The inquisitive eye adds to it's personality. The light is superb, enhancing all details and feathers texture. I like also the eye, where pupil and iris are clearly differentiated. It's razorsharp, with an adequate background. Very well done!
