I reckon Mallard Drakes, along with the Kingfisher and Common Pheasant, are one of the most beautiful British birds! The iridescent green on their head is really stunning up close.

This is another one of my first ever photos taken with my S3 IS... which is soon to be replaced!! :D

Cheers!

Hello Joe
How beautiful this picture! I like a lot these male Mallards with those beautiful colors. You captured it quite well being one of your first photos with the S3 IS. I like very much the framing and composition.
My compliments and TFS
Greetings
Maite

Mallards do make great subjects don't they. The extreme close-up is nice and shows off a lot of detail. The focus is good and you left room for him to swim into.

Ahhhh the canard yes...Very good..Much more desirable than a creep crawly for me thanks...Of this family the Mallard is and has always been my favorite. I have a wooden carved on my dad did and also I have a fossil with a Mallards head ...no actually it is a fern but the fossil is shaped like a head of Mallard...ok make that clear Bob...Nice image Joey.
