I feel rather like the prodigal daughter creeping in with my offering of flowers now and then. Please forgive me for yet another absence, which should come to an end with this posting.

For me, the Common Daisy, Lawn Daisy or English Daisy is a delight to the winter-weary eye. But to others (including my chagrined hostess last spring) it is a weed: something to be dug out and removed.

Bellis perennis is native to western, central and northern Europe. It is very low-growing, with stems of 2 - 10 cm tall, low enough to escape some lawn-mowers.

And with winter creeping ever onward on these northern climes, I hope that it will please even the Brits who would normally dig them out as soon as they appear.

Tech: composed in camera, sharpened, smart blurred selected areas of background (which not only removed some distracting grass edges, but also reduced the file size).

Thanks for looking and please -- do forgive me?

Hi Silke,

It's wonderful to see you posting again - I forgive you and I'm sure everyone else will as well. I love daisies and this one is lovely. Beautiful colors that look marvelous against the green. Nice background with the blurred daisies.

Oh boy...I can tell you are using a Nikon...this reminds me much of my settings and my eye almost as well...if not perhaps better done in it's simplicity. I really like this and now suddenly realize how much we are missing when you do not post! Shout it out on the mountains! You are here...I shall go tell my "people"..;-)

Hi Silke,
first, i must point out a grave error in this posting...Bournemouth is in Dorset, not Devon ... I will forgive you though ;o)
Anyway, nice to see you back again, this time with a 'simple English Daisy'. Excellent low POV, sharp and well exposed too.

Beautiful photo - something of hope felt in that photo. Lovely.

Of course we forgive you. We all have lives outside of TN and sometimes we have to spend more time living them. :)

Hello Silke,
Only three months to go before we begin to see these! In Swedish they are called Tusensköna, beauties seen in their thousands.
I like your POV very much: not often we see daisies from the side and you have made a fine well composed macro from this perspective where it stands out well against the OOF grassy BG.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,

Hi Silke,

A beautiful daisy that make me think spring is not to far. The flower is getting a good luminosity that brings out the colors. The point of view allows us to see the details and colors of the flower. have a nice day.

Hi Silke,
Good to see you back and thank you for this beautiful daisy.
Joey put it so eloquintly" Simple yet powerful and effective".
Very nicely composed with the blurred BG flowers in the "right"
spot. What a day brightener on this cloudy winter day.
TFS, Richard

So artistically shown Silke. Just a tiny daisy, but still so beautiful. I like your POV - you were certainly down low to take this shot

What's to forgive? I come here when I can, and today's the day!!

Hello Silke,
I like the point of view, that together with use of DOF makes the subject stand well out!
Sharp fine details and a pleasant diagonal composition...
