FUNGUS:

One of a group of primitive, nonvascular organisms including mushrooms, yeasts, rusts, and moulds.

Fungi, which were once classified as plants, have since been reclassified as unmoving organisms that lack chlorophyll.
Some fungi are single-celled but differ from bacteria in that they have a distinct nucleus and other cellular structures. Reproduction is accomplished by spores. Mycologists (scientists working with fungi) estimate that there are 100,000 species of fungi, ranging from baker's yeast to dermatophytes (fungi that cause ringworm and athlete's foot) to potentially invasive species such as Candida albicans and Aspergillus.
As many as 150 of these organisms have now been linked to animal or human diseases.

Ok, my first post here on TN without a positive ID
The closest I can come up with is the Birch Polypore (Piptoporus Betulinus), but I don’t think this is it.

I have posted the underside as a WS for ID purposes, but it’s a bit fuzzy!

Again, taken in the New Forest.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Sorry I cant help with an ID, I do wonder if you have another fungus attacking the larger one. I am not sure if I like you point of view but then with bracket fungi are never very photogenic :)

Interesting shot Julia,
Great title. Well detailed, good sharpness and colours.
I don't have a clue regarding the ID, thanks for posting

Of course - fun-guy - good title!
I know nothing about 'funguys' but your shot is quite artistic with this umbrella sticking half way up the tree. Nicely caught Julia. Good BG too.

Hey Julia,

One of the best titles for Funghi-pics I have yet seen on TN. :) The photo is very nice, interesting POV and composition. I just think the bark under the funghi is a little a wee bit UE. TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Nice "room" shot Julia, Very good details and light..Like your catch-phrase title, CUTE! Well done!

Excelent shot of your future bush toilet. Cut a hole in the middle. LOL
Excelent composition and details. Sure looks big.
Excelent work.

Mike

Halo Julia!
Superb photo. Great shot with wonderful details. Nature is amazing!

Is very difficul to ident with only this shot, but I think you made a good guess in your note. The DOF with only f:2,8 is amazing. Thanks.

This looks HUGE! Interesting subject and note, Julia. One might argue composing it a bit below centre but its subjective and personal. The contrasts make it stand out very nicely. Very well done.

Oops... I remembered :)

This photo caught my attention because this is exactly what my sister and I call these "Fun Guys" LOL I guess we're not the only ones! I really like the way this one is shown, almost jumping right off the tree. Nice color and sharpness. Well done.
