[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is dedicated to Paul (Lawbert) who is a massive inspiration with all his stunning in-flight shots of small birds such as the Chaffinch. One day I hope to be able to take shots as good as his but in the mean time I'll have to settle for bigger birds like this Swan :-)

This is another shot from Sunday's Stocker's Lake trip.
The light was in front of us here which made this back-lit effect on the wings.

I hope you like this one and thankyou for viewing :-)

I hope you like it!

Nice action shot, Joe!
Well done and TFS

Hi Joe

What a wonderful shot of a swan. It is a real beauty, I hope you are proud of it! Nice DOF and focus, great composition.

Of course we love it Joey...I am working now on my flying birds but all I get are blurs and shadows and such....you give me hope that I shall get one as good as this some day soon....now if the police will refrain from asking me why I am parked at the edge of the woods every day taking images out of my window with a long lens:-)

majestic, TFS Ori

Hello Joe
I Thank You so much for this dedication and your words..I am so pleased you find my pictures an inspiration..With your obvious talent for Photography I know it will only be a matter of time before you achieve and better them.
Now for this fantastic inflight of Mr Swan which is an inspiration to me..I got nowhere near close to nailing anything close to this Top Class capture..You have tracked him perfectly and got your Dof spot on so he is sharp everywhere..The lighting is brilliant and illuminates his wings perfectly showing incredible detail...Its a well planned and executed capture.
(also Many Thanks for that superb workshop you created on my Chaffinch..I shall try and replicate it from your very good explanation notes.)

Cheers Joe...and guess what..

I tip my hat to you on this classy capture sir!!

Hi Joe,

A nice and worthy dedication to Paul. Lovely in-flight shot of the beautiful Swan. I especially like the back-lit effect on the wings. Just beautiful.

A very good Swan image. It is as graceful as the swan itself. Lighting and compo is very good .

What a perfect in-flight capture of a swan in frozen action Joe, the detail of the feathers are astounding my friend, and the difficult exposure balance between white and white is nicely met, TFS indeed!

Hello Joe,
Perfect image for a warm dedication to our friend Paul!
the lighting on this shot is stunning and beautiful against the sharpness, good colour and details on the Swan!
a talented animal photographer!

Hello Joe,
it's always impressive seeing those big birds in the air, once they lift off they are so graceful.
This is wonderful ingflight shot, and it does show off that gracefullness very well. Lovely extention of the wings and the light hits it perfectly.
POV, sharpness and details are fabulous.

Hi Joe. You have done so well with this in flight shot of the swan . good detail and use of the light in the wings. well done TFS.

Hi Joe, superb flying swan with fantastic details and wonderful sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Joe,

Very good in-flight picture of Mute Swan. Great composition and just amazing sharpness of details DOF covering the whole bird with the lense wide open. Great lighting also as the whites are not burned anywhere. Another example of your great work!

Nice one again joey, this one has such a good focus while in mid air! I have a hard time photographing flying birds when they fly fast. Also I'm not sure if I have ever seen this bird... perhaps I have seen it in the distance, but not like this. Thanks for sharing! Joey, you are a professional photographer! Cheers Josh Lewis.

Hi Joe, Super inflight shot of this swan. You've done very well with exposure showing fine detail and no OE areas. Lovely sharp backlit wing feathers. Nicely composed with a pleasing pose. Fine work. tfs Richard

Excellent work, Joe.
I like this back-lit effect. Besides the details in the blacks or shadows are visible.
Very good in flight Swan.
I think Stocker's Lake is a place where birds are trained for in flight sessions:-)
I wonder how long you have to wait for an in flight opportunity?
Well done

Hi Joe!

It seems to me as if I could hear the typical noise of the swan's flight, produced by its large wings, or the different, but also typical noise he produces at the take off.

Your picture also remembers me my childhood when I helped an uncle of mine to take care of a wounded swan on a little lake near my city. We went to him every day during a couple of weeks, disinfected the wounds and feeded him. Even years later, when I was anywhere at the border of that lake and called him, he approached...

Thank you for remembering me these souvenirs with that wonderful picture...

Kind regards

Hello Joe,
Wow, Simply wonderful job Joe. The use of the backlighting is brilliant here. The whole composition is outstanding. Pretty soon I personally will need a flying barn to get a decent inflight. Thanks for sharing this incredible image Joe.
