Hi Nicholas,

You did a very sharp photo rendering even the finest detaisl of butterfli's heary body. The blurry background enhaces the overall sharpness of the image. Nice natural light rendering corectly the color tones.

Thank you for sharing,

Well done, Nicholas.
I like the word 'tripod' in your photo information.
In photography, a tripod is a three-legged stand for a camera, used to stabilize and elevate the camera. In this definition is 'to stabilize' very important. I like it when its very heavy. However I admit I don't use it very much.
Concerning the image, could it be that your shutter speed is a bit too long...
Beautiful butterfly, this Marbled white.

Hello Nick,
A great capture of a fresh Marbled White. I like the POV, the wing position, the almost total sharpness and the dark green OOF natural BG. I mifght have composed it so that there was less space on the right and a little more on the left but its a small point when this image is so fine in so many other respects.
I think the last time I saw this species was over 20 yrs ago on the Wiltshire downs.
TFS this beauty,
Have a good weekend,

Hello Nick,
Lovely capture of the Marbled White from a nice POV. Sharp enough for me and it stands out very nicely against the soft background. A fine composition too.
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Ciao Nicholas,
splendida macro di Galatea, una bellissima farfalla difficile da fotografare per il contrasto dei colori, ma che tu hai reso molto bene con una perfetta esposizione, eccellente definizione dei dettagli.
Grazie e complimenti.

Amazing butterfly picture.

Ya took no licking here Nick. Your Canon reminds a tad of the quality I get on my Nikon with the enriched tonal saturation's. It must have been well pre-planed eh? Sharp distinction between the B&W of the best and the total darkened backdrop make is zing!

Hola Nick,
bella macro con buen foco,
color y composición...
detalles y textura magníficos.
saludos amigo.

Hello Nicholas
When I see your species, I thought it was M. larissa in first looking. Both of them very similar. larissa very common in dry grassland here. You captured it with a very nice macro. superb colors and great focus and composition.
TFS, best wishes

Hi Nick,

It's impossible for me to remember every butterfly I have seen on TN but this doesn't look at all familiar. The black and white and the bold markings are beautiful. The pose is a little different too. Excellent details and the dark pink flower adds a perfect touch.

salut Nicholas,
nous avons les mêmes sujet en ce moment, les notes sont très utiles. Belle image colorée, le blanc/noir sur le vert du BG rend fort bien. Je note F13 avec un flou très rapide, là c'est la distance de prise de vue qui est déterminante.

nice day.

Hi Nick.
Common for our place species. I like it a lot. I also like impressive POV and excellent diagonal composition of the image. It is not so simply task to use tripod at butterfly shooting. You managed to get crisp sharp image despite the rather long exposure time. Surrounding are so nice, green colour tones are so pleasant for look. My best regards and TFS.

Glen, Great specie. You managed to keep the white in correct exposure. Again, never seen this one. You seem to have access to various butterflies. The stem at the top left corner is a disturbance and could have been avoided.
