This Squirrel was hanging around all day while i was sat in the forest , As i was packing up he found a few seeds which the birds had left. So this was taken from inside the car with the window down.

Grey Squirrel ( Sciurus carolinensis ) Length 25-30cm.
Introduced from North America in the 19th century and now our commonest Squirrel. Occurs in woodland but also found in urban sites such as parks. Fur can look reddish during the summer months but never has ear tufts. Widespread in England and Wales but local in Scotland and Ireland.

Hi Nick,

I love seeing squirrel pictures because, believe it or not, we don't have any here. I love this one in a classic pose - they always seem to be eating. Beautiful colors, sharp details, and a lovely setting.

Maybe it's a sign of an early winter..who knows...but I noticed more squirrels the last couple of days...it has been in the 100 plus temp wise here...so maybe they know something or sense something we humans cannot feel..perhaps it is changes in the geomagnetic field. That can screw up many mammals..such as whales...if they get a change in the geomag at the wrong time..they sometimes will beach themselves having lost track of direction!

Hi Nicholas!

It is a nice squirrel presented in a very nice way. The picture, as we are used to from you, is perfectly sharp and rich with details. It's a classical, yet very pleasant wildlife picture. It seems that it has waited for you to leave to present himself in the best manner.

Kind regards

Hello Nicholas,

Are there many squirrels in England. Here in Holland is not so good with these animals. Very striking!!

Hello Nicholas,
Colourful animal. I wonder why they call a Squirrel
with colors a Grey Squirrel? In South Africa there's a Tree Squirrel which is grey and I was surprised to spot the latter most of the time on the ground?
Back to the photo. Good capture!
Good Car-POV as well:)

nice pose and nice wood piece, the combinaison and the angle makes great compo, sharpness is excellent
