Taken earlier this month in the New Forest . i know its another Nuthatch but I do think they are a photogenic bird .

NutHatch. ( Sitta europaea ) Length 14cm.
Recognised by rounded, short- tailed appearance and habit of descending tree trunks head downwards, a trait unique in Britain to this species. Has blue grey upperparts, black eyestripe, with white cheeks and a orange buff underparts.Chisel like bill use to prise insects from tree bark and to open acorns and nuts. A woodland species common in wales and southern England. Nest in tree holes often plastering the entrance with mud to reduce the size.

Hello Nick,
You're lucky to be able to get so close to these charming birds. This one is really cute with the fluffy feathers by its tail. Excellent sharpness and beautiful colours. I like the mossy tree stump too!
TFS and regards, Ulla

I could not have two better neighbors today in You and Luciano. And here you have what is becoming one of my fav's from your side Nick. I do appreciate the natural green moss. It gives a very real earthy flavour to your birds. And the nuthatch is too cute. you do know that some of us who have been cyber-friends for so long, run out of superlatives to describe our feelings...so I am reduced to simple things..good show!

Hello Nicholas, Very nice view and good shot. You are lucky to get so close with the bird and good focus. Ganesh

Ciao Nick, lovely bird with fantastic colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Beautiful shot of the Nuthatch. I love to watch them in a descending position (many times ascending the tree backwards)on a tree as they feed on insects. These birds do not use their tail for support but instead have very strong legs and feet/toes. Love the moss and overall composition of this photo. TFS.
