[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Coal Tit, Parus ater.

Taken in the New Forest at a place where there are several feeding stations set up, often by other photographers, and the birds are totally used to humans being in close proximity. When the weather is cold these birds get desperate for food, and become much easier to photograph then in summer when food is plentiful. Often they will come to snatch food from you whilst you are still putting it out, coming to within inches of you to get it, and in fact, the first time I loaded the feeding station with peanuts, most were gone by the time I managed to get the camera out.

Camera: Canon 40D
Lens: Canon 100 - 400 L USM with a 27mm extension tube to allow focussing closer then the lens is usually capable of.

I really like the pose of the bird with his head down.
and the beautiful colors on the tit and the warm BG.
The diagonal perch adds to the composition.
