[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

I havnt managed to get out shooting much recently, so im going back a couple of weeks to this shot taken at Kimmeridge bay in the purbecks.
This was taken about 20 minutes before my last kimmeridge shot ' icy sunset ' and the difference in the light is quite amazing.
Compositionally i know this isnt great, but the shot just lacked something when i tried to crop some sky and equally when i tried to crop some of the foreground.

Thanks for looking

Hi Ewan
It is quite a moody picture with the sheet of sea-water rearing its head to swamp the shore. DOF is impressive and the cloud filled sky is well complimenting the scene. Impressive. TFS

hi ewan,
beautiful and very peaceful image, no doubt. fairly good composition and you got the colors just right. tfs.

bonjour ewan
j'aime beaucoup ce genre de vue avec cette profondeur,et les couleurs qui resulte d'une exposition assez longue.
par contre je trouve le soleil un peu trop present et cela attire un peu l'oeil;a mon avis!

Hi Ewan
In my oppinion this is avery beautiful picture:the blue from the sky and the orange from the sun and clouds are strongly contrasting between them, but also with the black shoreline . And the frame is not bad.

Hi Ewan

It's always hard to shoot against the light, but i actually like what you managed to come up with here!
The exposure is well controlled (although a reversed ND grad would have fitted like a glove here...but we can't have them all :( ) and therefore the colors and tones in the sky and its reflections were nicely retained.
Particularly here, i really like the shine of the rocks on the lower right corner...that small element brigs a much needed light to that part of the frame and adds a whole lot to the overall composition.
Nicely done!

Bravo and TFS

PS: you said to keep you posted about our TN meeting: well so far i think Joey and me managed to get at least 10 members to come and as that group grows i think more will, too. Plus, the more come, the better chances of learning new stuff (for free) there are :) So? Made up your mind? :)

Hi Ewan,
As you have noticed, I am catching up on some of your photos. Its nice to see how a scenery can change in colors in just 20 minutes. The mood is completly different compared to the other one. This one looks so much cooler. The sky is a real gem with just the right spread of clouds. The surf adds a nice bit of motion to the entire photo.
About the composition. I think its perfectly balanced. Although the horizon is centered, the cliffhead makes the photo perfectly balanced. To me this is an example with the 'rules' can be broken.

Hi Ewan!
Very good, painting-like photograph! Great composition, colours of the sky and flowing effect of water.

dear ewan, this is just great. i am speachless. the colors and the the composition this magical light. just great. tfs.

This is a very nice shot, I love the lighting, and how the colours go from cool to warm. Great job!

Hi Ewan!

This is another beautiful sunset picture, although the contrasts are quite strong and the colours a bit cold. But I like the overall atmosphere and particularly the very beautiful foreground. The stones and the light reflecting on them are superb.

Kind regards

Hi Ewan,
a magnificent landscape shot.
The composition is superb.
Great lighting.
Superb exposure.

Very well done,

Hi Ewan,
Lovely sky with those gold/blue colors and wind swept stratus clouds.
I like the comp as it is..Sometime rules have be bent slightly for things to fit :) Great timing as the sun peeks through the clouds along the horizon..
Well done!

Hi Ewan

The colours in the sky are glorious. It looks like a painting. Lovely details captured in the foreground as well. Lovely effect from the slow shutter speed as well

Hallo Ewan
You have been on the right place at the right time to have been able to capture such a special scene. It is really lovely. In spite of temperatures, I admire the timing here, capturing the sunlight just at the right spot. The colours and view are really wonderful. Great sharpness and exposure. Lovely presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards

Hello Ewan
beautiful photo and excellent game of lights. The soft tonalities of the colors have very fixed the moment of the release with an interesting water moving effect.

Hello Ewan.

Excellent picture, nice composition and colors.

jose Luis.
