Snow Leopards, the sole member of the genus Uncia uncia, are from the high altitude mountains and are adapted for the extreme weather conditions of freezing snowy peaks and rocky terrain, these rare creatures hunt alone high in the mountains for ibex, wild mountain sheep, musk deer, small goats and often tinier mammals during the warmer daytime hours. Unlike most big cats, the snow leopard doesn't roar, and feeds crouched over her dinner, like small cats do. (info from PBS.org)

Beau portrait de ce Leopard des neiges.
Un sourire aurait été le bienvenue.

Is it alright if I break the monitor? I an green - this is the one thing in the UK I WANTED to shoot, I I did not get to the right place. The place in Kent was blah! and we never saw a thing! This is one beaut, I love it, nevermind the hot whites on the throat. Wish it was mine!

Gorgeous, almost comes out the screen. Excellent job you've done here Dan. The lighting and colours very good too.

What an animal! It is an opportunity that I would love to have. Lucky Dan. When I see a photo of such an endangered species I wonder what a person though before killing such a creature? Nice note too. Thanx for sharing and caring.

I can well understand why Callie envies you this one, it's got beautiful colours and very hypnotic eyes ;-)

It has a bright eyes of a cold killer. But the wild and dangerous look of this animal is a part of its beauty. Very good shot, sharp, and well lit. Excellent, Dan.

Gorgeous Dan! Another beautiful image. There is nothing on earth quite like the big cats.

Just an amazing capture! It all works.

Good photo with nice detail !
The leopard seems sad ;-)

This is nice, but I think the comment you made in your response to my previous critique holds true here - there is not enough depth of field on the Leopard. It would have been a much nicer picture if the in focus portion stretched at least to behind the ears of the leopard. As it is, the photograph has a slightly weird/discomforting feal to it as the your eye traverses back over the head and the image becomes more out of focus.

Still very good, and useful note.

Stunning !!Very good portrait of this leopard, like the contrst with the background and the sharpness off the pic, also very good compo..Great Job Dan !!

Like to have him as a pet...
What a great shot, see those eyes....

Nice portrait of this beautiful animal, good dof

Stunning photo, Dan. Very interesting animal. Thanks for the notes. This is what TN is all about - can learn something new each day.

What an expression...Should we get scared by his mistery face? i think a "be careful" should be enough!

Lovely shot

Thank you for sending such a beautiful great cat portrait. I guess there are few of these animals visible in the world. The expression, the shooting angle, and the colors are superb. Even if I regret (sorry) the white overexposed part, IMO, it's a great image.

Good capture of this snow leopard Dan. wonderful colours and details. Well done!

It really is a beautiful animal. It looks like the ghost leopard. The shape of the head gives him a "interesting" aspect, it seems very clever. Very good potrait Dan, TFS.

Good shot.
I must say that it is almost impossible to spot these beautiful creatures in the wild, they are so well camoflaged even on terrain that is not covered by snow. I must say I have had the good fortune of seeing one in the wild, albeit for a very short flleting while, near Ladakh in India. Sadly enough I could'nt caputre that on film.
