Hope you're all well, this pretty little Blue flower is the first time i've posted a flower here on TN, so i'm quite proud of it i guess :o) I noticed this whilst resting during a long bike ride with some mates in a meadow, somewhere in the chalkland hills of Dorset.
It was a beautiful spring afternoon and amongst the thousands of Cowslips there were these tiny flecks of blue. Luckily i had my Sigma 17-70mm with me (a great general purpose lens with some pretty good macro capabilities) so i managed to get a few shots, this being taken at about a distance of 2cm. I'm by no means no expert in this type of photography, so i probably have made blatant some mistakes here.
Anyhow, i liked the result so i thought i's share it.

From my RSPB Wildlife Of Britain Guide (an indispensable book!):

Germander Speedwell (Veronica Chamaedrys)

'The flowers of this plant are an exceptionally deep and vivid blue, with a contrasting white 'eye' in the centre and two divergent stamans. The flower stalks are produced from the base of hairy, stalkless leaves.
Close examination of the stems reveals that the hairs are in neat, opposite rows.'

From what i can gather, this is a perennial plant that likes to grow in shady grassy areas, alongside woodland(where i found this) hedgerows, among scrub or on embankments.

It's normally around 20-40cm high and flowers between March and July.

Please check the WORKSHOP to see where i found this flower..

Hope you like it, thanks for looking..

Hi Paul,
Very nice Veronica capture.Good colors and sharpness.

Your "first" is a beauty indeed Bob, your choice of a shallow DOF isolated the main subject from the surroundings nicely in this well lit image. TFS and cheers my friend,

Bonjour Paul,
Très belle publication valorisant bien le sujet par l'appréciation de la finesse des détails et de la délicatesse des couleurs.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hello Paul,
Nice capture of these pretty blue flowers,
good sharpness and lovely colors.
