[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi,

This was taken last night at stanpit marsh near Hengistbury head in Dorset. This sunset really took me by surprise as it really didnt look very promising about 10 minutes before this shot was taken.

This is actually 4 vertical shots stitched together,
I hope you like it.

Stanpit Marsh (Hengistbury head.co.uk)

Stanpit Marsh covers nearly a 130 acres (52 hectares) of low lying land just beyond the confluence of the rivers Avon and Stour at the Western end of Christchurch Harbour. Due to its level it is liable to flood and has as a result has stayed relatively unscathed by human exploitation. In the past, the northern end was used as a rubbish dump and the area has been utilised by the military in both world wars as a testing ground and exercise area, mainly for military engineering. In fact Stanpit Marsh boasts the oldest and one of the few remaining WW II Bailey bridges. The prototype Bailey bridge was used to span Mother Sillers Channel and remains there to this day. Other areas of the Marsh have been reclaimed for a golf course but otherwise Stanpit Marsh has largely been left to itself. Due to its position the Marsh attracts many varied and often rare species of birds.

I am usually not attentive to landscapes,
but your thumbnail sure grabbed my attention today.
The red in that sunset is just glorious.
What a fantastic show of clouds and their reflections in this very well composed image.

An absolute delightful view!Although the colours are dark and moody the scene is just magic to look at. Just love that thin line of red on the horizon and the white reflection on the surface that just breaks through the clouds is amazing. I must congratulate you on the stitchwork done. Great sunset, Ewan. That filter made for a perfect exposure throughout, it almost looks like an HD or HDR [I forget the name]. VERTICAL shots, eh? That's a different take, but it works perfectly here.
