Good Morning Everyone,

Here is another shot of my late-night visitor, a charming, businesslike hedgehog. (See last posting for original information.)

He has been to the garden on three consecutive nights and appears at about 9.45 pm.

Last night, my husband and I watched with sheer delight as he tried to negotiate the garden steps. They were just a little too high for him! He quickly reached up with his front legs, to grab the step above, and then struggled, like an acrobatic clown, to get a grip with his back legs. After much wobbling, his front legs slipped off and like a helpless turtle, he fell in a heap on his back. But, with true determination, he persevered, until, after the fourth tumble, he eventually got up the step!

Although we enjoyed the amusing spectacle, we later put another stone on the step, to reduce the height, so that the hedgehog would have an easier ascent if it went up the steps again!

Many thanks for your interest.

Hi Beverley,
What a cute little hedgehog, if hedgehogs can be cute. : )
I guess it is his coy pose.
You managed to show every quill clearly with your sharp focus.
LIght and color are just right.
Great story too.
TFS. : )

Hi Beverley!

You tell us a touching and humerous story, so well accompanied by a fine picture. The picture is a little bit soft, but reflects the cute aspect of the hedgehog very well. It remembers me of a hedgehog in my garden a couple of years ago. It didn't seem well and didn't try to escape when I approached. When I looked at it, I noticed it was full of ticks. I asked a vet and he told me to try to get them out and to disinfect with alcohol. I counted about 20 of them and had a hard work... The next day the hedgehog had left our garden. I still don't know if it appreciated my treatment...

Kind regards

Ciao Bev, an other great capture of this lovely creature, great light, good colors, wonderful details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Beverley,
A great low-light shot of a a hedgehog, which I prefer to the previous because of the contrasting grass. Great pose taken from a fine POV with pretty good sharpness and set in a perfect composition.
Nice one and thanks for sharing it!
Kind regards,
