Hello Everyone,

I have just found this fine caterpillar in my garden. I rushed inside to grab the camera but it was moving at speed along the wall when I returned. I almost didn't find it!

It was on the willowherb plant but fell off as I was pulling out the weeds. I have looked up the caterpillars belonging to the butterflies that I normally find in my garden but it doesn't appear to belong to one of those. I would vewry much appreciate any help in identifying it so that I can record it.

Thank you so much to Ivan (Argus) who has identified the caterpillar as that belonging to the Muslin Moth.

Many thanks for your interest. Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
This is a nice capture of the caterpillar of the Muslin Moth (Diaphora mendica). Though the limited lighting prevented a good DOF, you took the main features with excellent sharpness from this fine lateral POV.
Thanks and all the best,

Ciao Bev. Good colours and details in exctiting cut. Amazing light's management.

Hi Bev :)

Good to see you on TN!

Lovely macro capture of an adorable caterpillar! The details are very well shown with wonderful control on sharpness and taken from a nice POV. The colors and hairs are perfectly shown. The greyish BG give great contrast to the golden brown colored caterpillar. Well done!

best regards,

Ciao Bev, wonderful caterpillar with fantastic colors, great details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio
