[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,

The sedum flowers have just opened in our garden creating a carpet of pretty pink flowers. Not only do we appreciate the colour and the perfume but the insects find it irresistible.

This hoverfly, whch I believe is Helophilus Hybridus (although I am happy to be corrected if I have misidentified it) was having a tasty feed on the nectar.

If anyone would like to know more about these interesting insects then just click here for a detailed account.

Many thanks for your interest.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. Bev :-)

Excellent shot of this female Helophilus... pendulus or hybridus. This 2 species are very close. Nice colors and composition. Best regards,

I was also guessing hoverfly...but it would have been true guess. I did get qet a couple this summer when my scooter worked...very fine close in...but then that's Nikon with a good eye and a fast trigger finger!

Hi Bev,

A wonderful and highly artistic shot of this hoverfly on the Sedum flowers which I am completely unfamiliar with. The insect is marvelous with fine details and natural colors. The splashes of colors from the flower make this a knockout.
