[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken on my recent trip to Mid-Wales where I visited Gigrin Farm. This red kite is swooping down to pick up some of the meat (top quality beef) which is fed to them every day at 2 pm, or 3pm in summer. Gigrin farm is a rehabilitation centre for the red kites which almost became extinct in the UK in the 19th century due to persecution. It has been found out that every Red kite in Wales is descended from a single female. There are now over 150 breeding pairs in Mid Wales.

Taken with Canon Eos 30D and my new sigma 150-500mm DG APO OS lens.
Hope you enjoy

Hello Sion
A fantastic capture of this glorious Red Kite, Lovely and sharp and shows well the power in the wings as the bird almost scrapes across the ground.
Congratulations on your new lens as well.
All the Best

Waw...wonderful capture this bird.
Sharpness of the subject are amazing, and colors are great.

Hi neighbor! really is good to take this opportunity to see your work. This photo is of good quality despite the difficult lighting and POV really committed. The result is good, and the pose of the bird is downright beautiful, you can see all the majesty of its flight and the projection of its motion. It is difficult to achieve this 1/400s and 500mm of focal length! congratulations!. I have to become more aware of your photos in the future! Greetings from Venezuela! TFS!

Hello Sion,

This is truly an amazing photo. Very well done and thanks for sharing.

Hi Sion. Very well done to you for taking this fine inflight picture of the Red Kite . Great timing on your part . I like the POV so we can see the full detail of the tail wing. TFS.

This is awesome! I have to ask... did you have to leap out of its way after you took the photo?

Excellent detail of the face and motion blur in the wings.
