Fly Agaric Mushroom (Amanita muscaria).

Taken earlier this month, this one has the cap quite open but not yet fully extended and flat. Taken from a low viewpoint, ground level.

Our most familiar toadstool. Widespread and common, always associated with birch and found on heaths and in mixed woodland. Red cap is covered with white flecks. Gills white and stem white with a ring. In troops, August­November. Poisonous.
