[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was taken through the glass of the lion enclosure at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, Bedfordshire.
It was about an hour before sunset and the light was pretty dim. The lions usually don't sit all that close to the glass, so as they were being cooperative this time, I took a few photos anyway. Knowing that the light was a bit strange I set the camera to 'daylight' white balance and knew I would have to adjust later in PP. This started out as quite an uninspiring photo from the camera LCD preview but I managed to improve it quite a lot by warming up the colours with the white balance adjustments, increasing saturation quite a lot and decreasing the exposure to create a near-silhouette. I hope you like it, I do. I'll post the original as a Workshop.

Very well taken shot through the glass ( must be spotless glass ). I like it.
If I didn't read the notes, i would have thought it's Africa.
Very beautiful sunset shot with the lion waiting ......Is there a story to go with it too?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Andy,

You already told me about this shot this afternoon and I must say; it's better than I expected. Wonderful, warm colors and a crystal clear look. Very well composed. It truly is like you shot this in Africa. Well done & TFS!

Very nice post Andy,
Excellent PP work. The layout in the viewing area at Whipsnade is excellent, and this stunning capture shows how good it is.
Colours and composition are excellent. Great POV, framing and notes.
Thanks for posting, have a good week.

I would've never believed that this've been taken in England if I wouldn't knew about Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. I know it only from some shots posted here, but it seems it must be a great place.
Anyway, I just want to say that you've made amazing job in PP creating such warm photo with great african mood.
It's beautiful and must go straight to my fav's.

HI Andy,
Your Post Processing has made this picture fantastic.
Amazing what a few tweeks can do.
I love the silhouette and the colours in the sky.
