[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Red Squirrel is native to Britain and yet is being forced out of it's natural habitat by the stronger American Grey Squirrel. One of the delights of winter is to witness red squirrels courting. These nimble inhabitants of the Formby pine forest look their best in winter. Their deep, chestnut-red fur is softer and thicker than in summer. Some may develop a grey tint down the sides of their bodies. Their tails are extra bushy and their pointed ears sport distinctive tufts of long hair.

Hi Geof, good capture. I still have not got one of these on camera. It's a nice shot although I'd be tempted to crop a little off behind the squirrel. Very well done.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Geof,
I really like your little squirrel. Our squirrels do not have that bright reddish fur, rather a dull brown. They also do not have those cute tufted ears. Thank you for a great shot and warmest holiday wishes to you and yours. : )

Hi Geof,
a few minutes ago I saw your shots on TL.
And now I recognice, you're also here to find.
I love this shot very much, squirrels are so cute and this one is sitting there like a model - just for you ;-)
Very good shot, thanks

Hello Geof! Wonderful study of the red squirrel, first time I saw once was an etching on a European hunting gun and I thought the engraver had some strange new species he'd made up! Lovely contrasts of his colour with the golds and green, and you have captured great variations in his fur colour as well. Do hope the grey squirrels don't succeed! Well done! Linda

Hi Geof,
An excellent capture with good POV,DOF and colours.
