[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken at a sight in the New Forest A superb location for this type of shot shown to me by Pesky polecat

The nuthatch is a plump bird about the size of a great tit that resembles a small woodpecker. It is blue-grey above and whitish below, with chestnut on its sides and under its tail. It has a black stripe on its head, a long black pointed bill, and short legs. It breeds in central and southern England and in Wales, and is resident, with birds seldom travelling far from the woods where they hatch.

Taken using a 1.4x and a Monopod

It's a pesky nuthatch! Remember, that's MY log... LOL

Nice one Geoff, this is really good...

Very good DOF and detail, nice rich color also. I am not a fan of the large white frame though, just personal preference. But WOW what a bird.

Gorgeous light and colors, Geoff.
The pose and composition are fabulous, with the bird standing with his feet wide apart on that diagonal trunk.
Details are razor sharp.
An exceptional image. TFS. : )

Hi Geoff,
it's a very nice picture of the nuthatch.
Lovely colours and good details. The composition and POV are also very good. IMO it's only a minor nit, it's that the tail is not within DOF, you could used smaller aperture and still have the BG in OOF, but thats me.
Great work.

Great details.
Real colors.
Lovely photo.
Well done and thanks for sharing.

excellent capture, though the colours seem a little subdued for the nuthtches I know.

I love the branch to the left, it adds a really strong composition to the picture, but the frame does not work for me at all, I'm afraid.

Very nice picture though...

A wonderful shot of this little Guy, Geoff, Superbly sharp and great colours. A really good shot beautifully presented.

Hi Geoff

Sorry, short on time this morning. In a rush, but wanted to pay a quick visit and give a well deserved big green smiley for a job well done! :-)
