Preparing this image as an A3 print made me think I that I should share this slight different shot of this Green winged orchid, for more details about it and the Local Nature Reserve where I found it click here please
Hope you like.
Note it was taken with the old Sony F707 and that the speed of this hand held shot was only 1/25sec some thing I wish I could do with the New Nikon D200.

Rob - seems Orchids don't attract too much attention - but i am one who has a big love of them especially the wild UK ones (I grow indoor varieties as well).

I have never actually see this orchid in the wild - my main problem being I grew up in the north of the country and the options are slight different.

I like the picture - all the flowers and the stem are in focus, but I kind of feel a touch unbalanced for some reason - i think it is the cropping...

Its a shame I don't get next monday off (Bank holiday) otherwise I woudl loved to have visited them to photo - guess you'll have to do it for me!!!

which orchid is it ? must be Dactylorhiza

Hi Robert!
Old Sony worked not bad this time. I like your work - definitelly this orchid is worth to be presented. Very beautifull flower, with interesting shapes of flowers. I hope you took macro shots of flowers also. Very interesting and educative post!

Magmnifica estampa de esta Orchis sera maculata? de las que en Inglaterra hay buena variedad y Darwin escribio un libro de avanzada para su epoca(que nunca logre conseguir)solo con la observacion de sus polinizadores en las praderas.
