[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Orange Ladybird (Halyzia 16-guttata) has been increasing in abundance recently. It is generally found in woodland around sycamore or ash trees. It is also attracted to light. In fact the evening after I photographed this one, I found another one indoors near a lamp and a large number of moths.

A 2x teleconverter was used.

Excelent sharp details. Beautiful capture!

I generally don't comment on insect shots very often, but this one drew me in.

This is a great shot. I love you have captured the "personality" of this insect so well. It has an almost cartoonish quality. Well done.

I'm not sure if I like the angle though.

Hi Andrew very nice capture of this Halyzia sedecimguttata ladybird What intrests me is the detail you have captured in the eyes, did you use any aditional lens, I ask because i am using a D200 and a Sigma 105macro and am getting nothing like this detail from them. TFS yours Robert

Hi Andrew,

My compliments for this macroshot,it got superb details in the face, well done and TFS,

Paul

Hi Andrew, What a great macro shot! The detail of the head and especially the eyes is outstanding. The use of narrow DoF sets the whole composition, beautiful coloours and contrast of colours. Never see one of these before... Well done TFS. Tim

Andrew
What an exceptional photo. The eyes are magical! Great job.

Kathy

Hello again! ;)
And again a very good macro! Ladybugs are very difficult to photograph because of their shape and size but here you did in perfectly! :) I really like this portrait.
Very good DOF, contrast and sharpness.
TFS and best gretings,
Radomir
