If I had known that you post this wonderful butterfly - I had posted the same - but with closed wings, so you can see the design of the under-wings ;-) Would have been a good combination. Beauty Hilary. Great focus on the butterfly. Great color, too. The flowers on the top are SO colorful and contrasty they draw my attention away from the subject (plus they are a bit out of focus, so it's frustrating to look there), so I would crop a bit off the top.

Hallo Hilary,
TrekNature offers a huge number of Painted Ladies, but you present it from a particular and more difficult point of view. Nevertheless, clarity and sharpness of the wings as well as of the body and the antennae are excellent.

Hermosa composición Hilary con POV y colorido muy agradables.
Buen DOF que permite despegar la mariposa del fondo con adecuado encuadre y presentación.
Personalmente, creo que el marco de color verde en esta caso, no combina adecuadamente con la imagen... pero es sólo mi punto de vista.

Beautiful composition Hilary with very pleasant POV and coloring.
Good DOF that allows to detach the butterfly of the background with appropriate framing and presentation.
Personally, I believe that the frame of green color in this case, doesn't combine appropriately with the image... but it is only my point of view.

Very pretty shot. Most of the time a butterfly shot from the rear doesn't make a nice photo but you pulled this one of vey well. The butterfly is nicely framed in the middle of the purple flowers and the DOF is great. Very nice. TFS.
