Happy Christmas to all of you on TN,
and thank you all for your wonderful posts this year.

A chance to post an image with a seasonal feel to it, in this the most unseasonal winter I have ever encountered here in the UK, to date the coldest temperature has been one night of -3.0C the rest have all been in plus figures around +8.0C very warm for here.
For the last week though as others in Europe will probably remember we have been covered in a dense layer of very low cloud we call fog that has disrupted much of peoples plans to fly to warmer/sunnier places for Christmas. This dense fog was accompanied with freezing temperatures which allows the moisture in the air to condense out as ice crystals surrounding the branches with masses of ice spikes in allsorts of amazing patterns. In this case though we had a constant wind with the conditions which meant that the ice all deposited on the windward side making things even as fine as a spiders web up-to 1cm wide.
This here is some Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna)growing in a hedge around a local field cover in this wind formed Ice, taken shortly before it all melted away when the sun finally broke through just as we finished work at midday on Friday, so on the way home I stopped and got a few pictures in the sunshine before it all vanished.
Hope you all have a great day, yours Robert

Really beautiful picture. Interestingly, there are few red berries on the plant.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi Robert,
that's a wonderful winter-wonderland. Poor vegetation, but it looks beautiful.
We also had that frost today and I also made some shots. Thanks for yours, enjoy the rest or the Christmas-days, bye
