The first time I saw one of these finch, I could not believe my eyes. We have them in the tropical butterfly house in Auckland. You have captured this extremely well showing the colours perfectly. Top quality shot! :-)

Hello Clint,

This is another wonderful photo from you! The composition is great as usual. There is a strong contrast between the sharply rendered details on the bird and the soft, plain background. I have never seen this species before and therefore I don't know what its colors look like. The colors in your shot look perfect! Same goes for the details in the plumage and the face of the bird.
Exposure and light are also perfectly handled. I appreciate the fact that the eye is clearly visible and not lost in a black area.
Another work of art is the background. You did a very good job removing and blurring it! Also the diagonal highlight in the background helps the composition a lot. This kind of pictures have the strongest impact because they lead ones eyes where the photographer wants them to look. Congratulation for this brilliant shot! The interesting note completes your post and teaches us a bit more about our wonderful world. Thank you for sharing this picture with us and please keep doing the good job!
