Hi guys.
I was going to post a photo of this very breed of goose running along the water but I'm going to have to replace it with this one which I just took!

Different place in the park, namely Adam's Pond. The sun was getting really low casting this warm light over everything. As I was walking around the pond this Egyptian Goose flew straight toward me and landed on a log. Fortunately the camera was in continuous focus and I had just about fast enough shutter to capture the action. This was my fave shot in the sequence thought I might post another soon.

PP: I cropped the log out of shot as it wasn't particularly aesthetically pleasing (covered in you know what), also sharpened and adjusted levels. This is from the jpeg not the raw file as I just wanted to upload it quickly and not fuss around too much.

Focal Length: 116mm

Hello Simon,
Great capture of the (landing?) goose... Colors and the feather detail are excellent. You nicely blurred wingtips make great impression of motion. Well done.

Hi Simon,
I like so much this picture!
You catched a really good pose of this final approach of the goose. Great timing.
I like the way light covers the duck, and project the neck's shadow.
We can enjoy great detail on the feathers and specially on feet, ready to make contact.
I like also the composition resulting from the crop.
Congratulations, thanks for share with us and my best regards,

Hi Simon,
Excellent capture!!
I love the way you got it before landing - very dynamic image and I love the symmetry. Great detail and light.
Good to see such a nice result from the lens I just bought :-D

Hi Simon

Sorry that I'm a bit late with this update, but the rat-race really had me in a strangle hold since the weekend.

Yikes, I sure hope this guy missed you cause it seems like its air brakes where applied a little late for this landing. What an amazing action shot showing brilliant movement in the wings and clearly showing the degree of control needed to balance and to bring the bird to stop without crash landing. This was accomplished yet still you managed to freeze-frame the bird’s body and head and managed to capture perfect details in those features. The colours are stunning and it seems like you shot this photo with some late afternoon sun which provided some excellent rich colours. The OOF water surface in the BG makes for a lovely backdrop and the exposure was brilliantly managed.

Great work and TFS.

Hello Simon,

Supercatch. Just at the right moment, what a timing. Not only very sharp photo but also warm, natural colors. My compliments!

This is the golden goose! Just look at the head on this ganser! It looks like it is coated and polished!
What a catch Simon. The spread of the wings is phenomenal.
