This was taken whilst I was at London Zoo. He was amongst the Flamingos and was in a classic frozen pose. His eye seemed particularly piercing to me.

Hi Simon, this is an excellent photo of the Heron. Wow to the exposure, depth of colour and detail, without over doing the sharpness. I am truly jealous. Beautiful compositon.

Hi Simon,

Superb portrait! I love the dirty beak. His plummage is wonderful - as is the face and that eye.

Hi Simon,
An excellent portrait shot on this Grey Heron. Nice soft light and a spot on exposure have rendered beautiful colors and sharp detail. I like the frame filling composition and tight crop.

Very nice portrait of the Blue Heron. Sharp detail. Nice colors, and exposure. Good DOF with complimentary background.

I see these each day on my travels, and take 100's of photos of them. To hear this sound when they start a flight, or get a bit scared is quite something. It sounds so vulgar. So about this shot...you managed to get the eye in good focus. Important.I also like the DOF.Seems a bit of motion going on back there, which does the still bird justice.

Good tight crop on the bird, good details and colour...

Beautiful shot there, though it seems like he has stuck his/her head into a spiders web! The composition is excellent.

Hello Simon,
Beautiful picture, the colors of the heron combine very well with those of the water of the bottom and make a composition beautiful in cold tones. I also like the frame. Very good work

Great shot.
Sharp and very nice details.
It seems a bit OE at top of the head, but not a big deal.

Hello Simon,`
Its eye is piercing indeed. I like those tones of colors and great details. This close composition is very good too and I like its beak with what it looks like being spider's web... It looks like he is 100 years old :) This is a very nice portrait. You picture in your intro made me smile too :))) Nice look for a future teacher, lol!

Hello Simon,
Beautifully shot! These are amazing birds aren't they?! They to me look like old men all hunched over. I capture them with my camera at my lake house. Usually they are out fishing....or begging from Fishermen on the dock....I have some in my gallery one of them is called "Perfect Form" They can be difficult in the wild to photograph....but it is worth the effort to be sure! Nice composition, color and clarity!

Take care,
Bettina Marie =0)
