What A wonderful shot .. I was out in the feild shooting macros today and just love coming up on shots like this ..
Colors and DOF are spot on .. well done

Hi Peter,
How much I enjoy this big images and format!
I like very much this contrasting image, the warm colours of the butterfly and flower stands out so well from the neutral background.
The sharp details on the insect's wings are so real that it produces the desire to touch it and feel that texture.
Another magnificent composition!
My compliments and thanks so much for port it.
Best regards,
JM

Hello Peter,
Wonderful image of this butterfly and flower wich both have, except for the whites in the wing of the butterfly, almost the smae color tones and therefore do fit perfectly together.
Composition, sharpness and lighting are excellent and the way the butterfly and flower do stand out against the very pleasing soft background is great.
Beautiful light, colors and details.
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing and the excellent note.
Best wishes,
Harry

Hi Peter
A very hairy butterfly, it blends in very well with the flower.
Well composed and the excellent exposure shows good sharpness and texture.
Great DOF and POV.

Chris

Hello Peter,

This picture shows how important it is to have the big picture in mind when taking a shot. That includes both photography and PP and here you proved great skills for both of them. It is a real work of art!

Composition:

The tilted composition with only flower and butterfly included is perfectly framed in a square format. The perspective comes from both the slightly rotated orientation of the butterfly and the blurred background. But most of all I appreciate the PP you applied to the background and the way you "pushed" the right antenna away from the camera. The well blurred background isolates the foreground perfectly. Great job!

Colors:

Again, you did an outstanding work to cool down the background a bit. This balanced the picture from a chromatic POV. The warmer color tones in the foreground also act as a means of emphasizing the subject. I also love the great textures in the wings.

Contrast:

Excellent distribution of contrast in the picture, strong in the foreground and low in the background.

Exposure:

As usually, the exposure was well handled and the details preserved throughout the picture. The shadows are soft and don't distract. To me it looks as if the sky was overcast and the light soft.

Focus:

The outstanding, very sharp details in the subject are the result of a very precise focus. I especially like the sharpness in the hair, wings and petals.

An outstanding presentation and work of art with well written notes. Thank you for sharing!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Hello Peter,
This is so impressive! This picture looks like a painting and those colors fit so well together that it's like you have chosen them on purpose :) I like the fact that you show us the upper side in the WS and both pictures are really sharp, well exposed and composed. This flower is magnificent! This is a beautiful and very informative post. Thanks a lot!

Guten Abend Peter,

Hi Peter

It is rather difficult to give a critique after Eddy Baak (snowfalken) has visited and critiqued a photo since there seems nothing left to be said. One can hardly claim any original thought or give any unmentioned suggestions regarding the photo. But what else can you expect when the master critiquer meets with a remarkable and perfect photo. So all that is probably left for me to say is WOW, caramba what a beautiful and faultless capture of this amazing fritillary.

Seems like the little butterfly did not only have lunch in mind when it landed on this flower, but stealth and disguise was also a major factor as is clear from the perfect match between the two. The colours are absolutely stunning and so are the clear and pin-sharp details. The DOF is unbeatable with the totally OOF BG making the subjects stand out very well.

Great work and TFS.
Regards
Loot
