Ciao Gert, great macro of very strange mantis, I never see before, fine details, splendid sharpness and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend ciao Silvio
Hello Gert,
What a wonderful image of this nice looking praying mantis. The larger version really show the fine detail that you managed to capture. A beautiful specimen in a typical mantis pose.
I searched online and found a mantis that I believe looks alot like this particular one, it is called an African Mantis. I'm not sure if you have them in your area, but check out this link and see what you think. They are supposed to grow quite large.

Nice sharp macro and excellent composition. I particularly like the back lighting.
Maybe just adding a few more millimetres at the bottom wold help so the lower foot would not be so close to the frame.

Hi Gert,
an eye-catching painting of light, your picture catches the attention, and stays in mind.
Perfect sharpness on the strange insect's whole body, a well taken point of view to show its peculiar shape at best from the side, plus an inviting eye-to-eye contact that draws right into the scene.
The species seems to be:
Ameles cyprica (Uvarov, 1936)

Good to see your posting. Agreeing with you about the usefulness to increase image size to at least 1200 pixels width here in our days with high resolution or even retina displays being standard.
With thanks, and best wishes to you,
Peter
