Chroicocephalus ridibundus (Linnaeus, 1766). Adult winter plumage
Black-headed Gull

Chroicocephalus ridibundus is a small gull 38–44 cm long with a wingspan of 94–105 cm.
The summer adult has a chocolate-brown head witch looks black from a distance, black tips to the primary wing feathers, and red bill and legs. The hood is lost in winter, leaving just 2 dark spots. First-year birds have orange bill and legs, more dark areas in the wings, and in summer, a less fully developed dark hood. It feeds on fish, insects, seeds, worms, scraps and carrion.
It breeds in Europe, Asia and coastal eastern Canada. Most of the population is migratory, wintering further south. Some birds in the milder areas of Europe are resident.

In Cyprus Chroicocephalus ridibundus is a very common winter visitor.

A very fine capture Christodoulos!
I like the timing that shows this winter-plumaged Black-headed Gull in a fine pose against the water and as usual, the lighting, colours, sharpness and composition are superb.
