Good to see Your posts again MF. As I see, spring already reached Cyprus - the big bunch of yellow (my fave color...) flowers are quite pleasant to look at. The composition's great also - I like close-ups of flowers, but also if the photographer shows the environment, too. Simple yet magic image - I'm sure not only to me. Congrats and tfs.
Have a nice weekend, friendly regards, László

Hi Bro James,
Another spring wind from my HOMELAND! You've fixed one of the most unforgettable sight of my country in spring is that of the fields ablaze with the dazzling yellow of this Crown Daisy (Chrysanthemum coronarium - In Turk. Sarı Papatya, In Cyp. Turk. Mandilya or Similudia), often mixed with vivid patches of brilliant scarlet poppies, and contrasting with the intense blue of the sky and the dark green of the carob trees.
This is the more abundant of the two species of wild chrysanthemum in the island, and grows in all parts of the hills and plains. It is an aromatic annual plant with a branching stem up to 60cm. high. The smooth, bright green leaves are pinnately divided. Its golden flowers '(for this is the meaning of "chrysanthemum") open from December- June, but the height of its flowering season is in March and April, when it forms sheets of yellow along the roadsides. The compound flower heads, about 4cm. in diameter, have notched ray-florets 5 mm. wide, arranged in a single row round the disc of small tubular florets in the centre. Beneath the flower head is an involucre, as is typical of this family, made up of rows of overlapping, smooth, leaf-like scales with brown papery margins. The involucre can be seen clearly protecting the flower head when in bud. The florets turn brown when they die, and develop into a head of tightly-packed dry achenes which eventually fall to the ground to germinate next year forming many new plants where the parent plant had been.
The Corn Marigold (C. segetum) is also a common annual of the cornfields, though it does not grow in such great profusion as the Crown Daisy, and differs from it in that the stem is less branched and the leaves are glaucous and less divided.
TFS and have a great WE MF!
I will be away from TN for 3-4 days! Take care!

this is really a smashing view for me. All yellows on green carpet background. Really exciting daisies in it glow.
We do not really have this opportunity like the spring you have there.
Lovely capture in great mood and beautiful feelings.
