Orgyia (Clethrogyna) josephina Astaut 1880. Larva top view. In my WS you can see the side view of the larva and the cocoon.

Orgyia josephina is a small yellowish moth of the Lymantriidae family. It is very similar to the species Orgyia (Clethrogyna) dubia (Tauscher 1806).
According to Fauna Europae(www.faunaeur.org/index.php) the taxonomy of the dubia-group is still unclear. Very often any specimen with yellowish hindwings is identified as dubia, which is a geographic variable eastern species distributed from Southern Europe and North Africa to as far east as Mongolia and China. It is unknown how many species of this complex really exist.

Fauna Europaea gives for Cyprus the species Orgyia josephina Astaut 1880 but for the areas around Cyprus (Egypt and the Middle East) gives the species Orgyia dubia (Tauscher 1806).
Orgyia josephina is also known from Algeria and Morocco (P. Leraut 2006, Moths of Europe Volume 1)

The male of Orgyia Josephina (and Orgyia dubia) is a small day flying moth with a wingspan of 18-25mm. It has a characteristic yellowish colour with black markings. The female is vermiform (without wings and without legs).

The larva is very characteristic with tufts of white, yellow and black hair. The host plants are various low-growing plants usually in saline areas.

The larva constructs a prominent cocoon on low vegetation where it pupates. The female mates and lays eggs in her cocoon.

In Cyprus Orgyia Josephina is a locally common species found mainly around the two salt-lakes at Larnaka and Akrotiri.
