The Kestrel is about 33 - 39cm (13 - 15") .

Scientific name: Falco tinnunculus

Habitat: Found in a wide variety of haunts including open or lightly wooded farmland, moors, wetlands and urban areas.

Description: Female slightly larger than male. Both are brownish on the upperparts, the male being more rufous and has blue-grey head and tail. Hovers frequently and indeed, is probably most often seen hovering alongside motorway and road verges.

As you see I managed to catch a couple in flight a male and a female, the male is on the left, I posted this picture few weeks ago to trekearth (before treknature was) and I am posting it here also because I think it suits here, I hope that is OK with you...

I am sorry that I am not very active here, the problem is the time...

Una nueva y excelente escena de estas aves tan hermosas David.
Gran disparo, por la agudeza de la imagen, por su colorido y atinado DOF y POV.
El encuadre es perfecto tambien.

A new and excellent scene of these so beautiful birds David.
Great shot, by the sharpness of the image, its colorful and accurate DOF and POV.
The frame is perfect also.

I had already voted this one in TE, it is a beautiful shot, it has a lot of realism.

Fantastic capture, the detail and DOF are very good and considering you got them in flight even better. Well done.

Great capture Elroyie.
Good colors , good sharpness and good composition,
Well done.

An unique moment captured here. They almost look cloned. Brilliant DOV and point of view. The sharpness is excellent. Nice concise note too. Thanx for sharing.

Très belle capture en vol sous un ciel bleu. Le détail est surprenant et le cadrage parfait. Merci. Rudy.

Elroyie Hi nice to see you back. 1st I have to remind you that you are only allowed to post an image once within the Trek sites, you can trensfer them between them if you wish.
Having said that this is certainly an image worthy of being here on TN.The detail and the combination of the 2 birds in joint flight is very nice.
I hope you decide that here is a good home for them.

Elroyie, Great capture & two for the price of one! Your pine bottom left is icing and anchors & makes for good overall composition.. But you new that right!

This is really beautiful. The sharpness and DOF is excellent. The timing in this shot is perfect. Very well captured.

Nice shot. Too bad that part of the face is covered on the bird on the right,

I like your photo a lot, Elroyie. It is sharp, the colors are very good and the composition is wonderful (I don't mind that the face of one animal is partially blocked). Thanks for posting.

Beautiful shot of this couple
Well done

Wow - what a catch - when ever I try just get one of those sitting in a tree the simply flyes away - thanks Elroyie for sharing this excellent catch.

Hi Elroyie,
I don't know how frequently you can have the chance to get a couple so well, but, in France, it would be very difficult to achieve this. It's a common raptor here, but uneasy to approach. Very good and rare shot, beautiful colors and details.
