[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Iris lortetii is another Oncocyclus iris, blooming in late March to early April in the Galilee, in the northern part of Israel. Only a few isolated populations of this lovely iris have survived. Compare to the other Oncocyclus irises in my gallery. The Hebrew name for this one is “Irus Hadour”, meaning “Elegant Iris”. Quite appropriate!
The picture was taken at sunset with the last rays of the sun illuminating the flower from the right-hand side of the picture.

Hi Ishi,
Always pleasant to come across this beautiful iris and sadly as you say they are few and far between.Quite difficult to get a decent image of them because of the contrast in colours but you have done it nicely despite it maybe being a touch dark. A little more light from right would have maybe warmed the image more.The detail is very good.
