|There are many species of Iris, widely distributed throughout the north temperate zone. Their habitats are very varied and range from cold regions into the grassy slopes, meadowlands, stream banks and deserts of Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa, Asia and southern North America. Picture was taken in the Golan heights in northern Israel. This is one of the first flowers that bloom in this cold and hight area.
This is a rare plant, distribution - northern Israel, Lebanon Syria and southern Turkey at over 800m.
