Iris hermona is a member of the beautiful Oncocyclus group.

General DescriptionFlowers are very large about 15 cm in diameter as well as in height. There is variability in the brown tone of the falls, as well as variability in the patterns, some with veins some with dots or speckles.
Flowering stems grow to 15"-18" tall. Standards are cream or whitish with some veining. Falls are creamy-yellow veined brownish purple. Signals are purplish-brown, as is the beard.

Preferred Habitat: Grows in dry or medium-dry open places like pasture lands.

Native Range: Mount Hermon, Golan Heights - Israel

Muy buena la captura de este lirio!
Aunque la iluminación viene de bastante arriba, lo cual genera muchas sombras, en especial sobre la grama de la base, en los pétalos el juego de luz y sombra se hace bastante atractivo, y deja ver la interesante nervadura de los mismos.

clear and sharp image of that rare, unusual and impressively large iris blossom, well lighted by the sun, well approached, well shown in its natural habitat.
The quality of that picture is very good - in particular when considering that it must be a scan-in from a slide or a print. A little noise on the background easily to be removed by postwork, and the image is a perfect one.
