[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hipparchia fatua sichaea is a rather common butterfly in most areas of Israel. I wonder what this female did on the rock, but the camouflage with respect to the background of the lichen-covered basalt is quite srtiking. Note her shadow cast in the early morning sun.

What the English common name for the species? In Hebrew it is Satyrit Ammoumma (עמומה סטירית).

Hi Ishi,

What catch! Exceptional macro, splendid play.
If you look not know which is the subject of the photo!

Have a nice evening,
Adrian

Hello Ishi
I think you should have put other title to your photograph. It should be something like "The master of camouflage" ;))
Very good picture of a difficult scene. Even thouhg the contrast is not high you've managed very well with it. The buttefly is sharp and the composition nice.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Ishi!

Your picture is as beautiful as impressive. The capability of the butterfly to camouflage is superb. You have taken the picture at the very right spot showing us the similitude between the environment and the butterfly.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Ishi,
A very good example for perfect camouflage indeed. The butterfly was resting there in an ideal place not to be seen. I like your framing and the fine and natural colors. Well seen and done.
Kind regards
Anne
