This iris is found in a few locations of Northern Golan and Mt. Hermon (Ori Fragman-Sapir has pointed put that despite its name, this species does not appear on Mt. Hermon itself...); it is quite rare and endangered. The flower is quite big, about 10 cm in diameter. Like I. lortetii , which I showed yesterday, it belongs to the Oncocyclus section of the Iridaceae

Nice iris portrait, the irises on Mt Hermon are not Iris hermona. Dinsmore described Iris hermona south of Kuneitra, which is where we know Iriws hermona today ni the Golan Heights. In Mt Hermon itself you can find Iris bismarckiana and Iris westii. Ori
