[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the fruit of Scabiosa prolifera, a rather common annual of the Dipsacaceace, found in heavier soils of the Mediterranean regions in Israel. The name of the species is derived from the popular belief that the plant can ease skin rashes. The fruit head, 30 mm in diameter, is made of paper-thin caliches that help disperse the seeds in the wind. This particular one was photographed in the northern Golan Heights in early May.

Hi Ishi!

I like this very delicate and fine flower or rather fruit very much. It's just beautiful, and I'm happy to discover it. Your flower came to my attention when I read the name that was familiar to me. But I guess your Scabiosa has nothing to do with the widespread "Scabiosa lucida Vill." of the Alpine region.

Kind regards

Markus

Shalom Ishi,
Wonderful close-up capture of this flower-like fruit:) of an annual of our region. Wonderful details and lighting!
Many thanks sharing this beauty.
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi Ishi,
This is a most wonderful, delicate fruit which I've never seen before in my life. The shape of te caliches and its texture is vey beautiful. And, you managed to capture it with great details and colors. I like how the light has given part of the fruit a lovely shine.

Very delicate looking flower and extremely interesting. Looks like it would blow away in a gentle breeze. Pattern in petals and overall design is fascinating. I like the lighting here too. Notes are informative. TFS
