|Lactuca tuberosa is a tuberous plant with a milky sap. The beautiful flowering heads open at night and close as soon as the sun comes out, in cloudy days they remain open till noontime.|

An excellent close-up of the flower, very nice. Interesting note too. I've never heard of a night-flowering Lactuca, all the species I'm familiar with are diurnal flowering.
