Strelitzia Reginae: Is the most common Strelitzia planted, with the well know orange petals and the blue tongue. The genus Strelitzia was named in honour of the Queen Sophie Charlotte of Mecklenburg of Strelitz in Germany, wife of King George III of England. In 1773 Sir Joseph Banks, then the director of Kew Gardens, named this exotic plant the "Bird of Paradise" plant, Strelitzia Reginae in honour of his queen.

Beautiful colors on this flower, not hard to see why Sir Joseph chose to the name. Technically, the photo is artistically composed and presents an interesting image. TFS.
