[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Asparagus acutifolius (
Liliaceae) is a creeping geophyte of the Mediterranean Horesh. The spikes are ‘pylloclades’, namely, short branches functioning as leaves. The leaves are small and scale-like. This Aparagus, one of the five Asparagus species found in Israel, blooms in August-September. Here we see the 2-3 mm diameter globular fruit.
