First I got to admit that this is a 'brutal' crop of the original frame, since it is TrekNature I allowed myself to do this crop for you to see the details and the beauty of this bird.

About the Kingfisher or Alcedo atthis sized about 16 cm.

Their brilliant blue upperparts, deep red underparts, white face patches and unique shape make Kingfishers impossible to misidentify.

Breeds along rivers, streams and lakes. Winters along lakes, rivers and estuaries; occasionally on rocky shores.

A fairly widespread but localised resident throughout most of England and Wales, although scarce in Scotland. Usually found in freshwater areas, although some move to the coast in winter, when food is more scarce.

Widespread in most of Europe, generally easier to see at reedbeds and marshes than along rivers. Trips by punt through the Danube Delta (Romania) or the Sultan Marshes (Turkey) guarantee lots of views and they are also easy to see around the seashores of Crete.

Felicitaciones Elroyie!

SENSATIONAL!
That beauty of birdie with excellent colorful, perfect DOF and composition. Congratulations Elroyie!

Great shot! An easy two points for you this time, anyone who catches a recognisable shot of these critters deserves at the very least two points, I've tried briefly in the past and the best I captured was a faint blue stripe ;) I really love the warm tones in this shot and the DOF is perfect, about the only thing I'd suggest is that you consider cropping the little bit of reed coming into the left of the frame and have a go at the slight colour bleed from the reed. Excellent capture :-D

P.S. I've posted a Workshop, see what you think!

He still looks good in this enlargement, a slight hot spot on his breast but otherwise spot on.

superbe, Elroyie.

Oops I missed this one, don't know how because it's excellent. The only times I have seen Kingfishers are when they zoom by. I have held one it had hit a car or something and was lying in the gutter, I took it to the vets but it died.

Anyway, it's a beautiful picture of a very handsome bird, the composition is exceelnt and the backgorund colours really fit.

Great capture of this skittish birdie against a nice oof background. Like Adrian I've tried to get one of these, but in my case the result was a greenish-blue blur above the brook, so well done ;-) Ours seem to have moved somewhere else now, haven't seen them for ages :-((

Details, composition, colours, and DOF are all spot on.
Congratulations.

A great photo, Elroyie, of a very beautiful bird. Good DOF. Stunning colours. I like the position in which you have captured the bird. Well done.

I really like the level of diffusion on the background. When blurred, the background colors compliment those of the kingfisher.

Elroyie, despite the brutal crop, your image is just perfect. How could you keep the good quality of the image even with the crop?

As for the picture, vivid colors of this extremely beautiful bird within a great composition.

Lívio

Beautiful photo! I assume this is a morning shot as he seems to be fluffing himself out to dry out. This makes for beautiful lighting. Do you use a teleconverter on this? You got remarkably close, well done!

You take such beautiful bird photos! I love the composition and colors of this one! Super nice shot.

Beautyfull picture:-))

Great colors.
